Ceres Rising -Updated 02/05/11

If the dates attributed to the Roman festival of Sementivae I have come across on the Internet can be believed, then yesterday (February 2nd) kicked off the portion dedicated to the goddess Ceres herself. Ceres, a corn goddess associated with sowing, is closely related to the Greek Demeter and the Egyptian Isis. The holiday of Sementivae was dedicated to sowing and prayers for a bountiful crop in the coming year.

In my prior article on Sementivae I speculated that the events unfolding across the globe represent a kind of sowing to the Cryptocracy. If I am correct, the reaping will be a bloody affair indeed. So, to briefly recap...

On February 2nd itself violence amidst the Egyptian protests was massively steeped up as 'pro-government' protesters (read: agent provocateur) joined the fray:

"Egypt's prime minister apologized Thursday for attacks by government supporters on protesters after a night of violence in which gunfire was heard in Cairo's Tahrir Square and at least five people were killed.

"Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq told state TV that the attack on the anti-government protesters which began late Wednesday was a 'blatant mistake' and promised to investigate who was behind it. He said the actions of the pro-Mubarak supporters were 'a million percent wrong.

"In an attempt to quell the violence, Egyptian army tanks and soldiers cleared away pro-government rioters Thursday and deployed between them and the protesters seeking the fall of President Hosni Mubarak.

"The protesters accuse the regime of organizing the assault, using paid thugs and policemen in civilian clothes, in an attempt to crush their movement."

Meanwhile the CIA front otherwise known as Wikileaks has accused the Egyptian protest leaders of being shills for American interests:

"For the last three years, the US government secretly provided aid to the leaders behind this week's social uprising in Egypt aimed to topple the government of President Hosni Mubarak, according to a leaked diplomatic cable.

"One of the young Egyptian leaders who attended a summit for activists in New York with the help of the US embassy in Cairo was detained when he returned to Egypt, the memo released by Wikileaks said."
Talk about the pot calling out the kettle... Anyway, in my last post on Sementivae I also speculated that Egypt's new strongman-in-waiting, the spymaster Omar Suleiman, was also a Company man. Initial reports are strongly pointing in that direction:

"The man named by President Hosni Mubarak as his first ever deputy, Egyptian spy chief Omar Suleiman, reportedly orchestrated the brutal interrogation of terror suspects abducted by the CIA in a secret program condemned by rights groups.

"His role in the controversial 'war on terror' illustrates the ties that bind the United States and the Egyptian regime, as an unprecedented wave of protests against Mubarak's rule presents Washington with a difficult dilemma.

"With Mubarak in jeopardy, Suleiman was anointed vice president last week and is now offering wide ranging talks with the opposition in a bid to defuse the crisis."

Even King Tut can get no rest:

"In a shocking development, the former director of the Egyptian Museum, Wafaa el-Saddik, in an interview published on German publication Zeit Online has said that the individuals responsible for the looting at the National Museum included the institution’s own guards, the fire danger at the NDP headquarters is now over after two days, and the most shocking revelation that the Memphis Museum in Memphis, Egypt, has been completely looted."

While I don't doubt the vast majority of Egyptian protesters are sincere, honorable people simply looking for a change  the leadership of both pro and anti government forces are most likely littered with Company assets on either side... this is typically the case of most popular uprisings and why they should be approached with a skeptical mind. Consider this piece I wrote on how the 1960s counterculture was co-opted (and probably created by) the US intelligence community.

With that in mind, we must marvel at the memes in play as the protests continue to spread:

"The final chapter in the still-unfolding Egyptian crisis has yet to be written but Cairo's neighbours and allies are either worrying about its contagion effect or fretting about life without the deeply unpopular President Hosni Mubarak at the helm.

"As Egyptians continued to take to the streets to press for the resignation of Mr Mubarak, the leaders of neighbouring countries like Jordan and Yemen began taking pre-emptive steps to placate their increasingly restive populace."

Even the Macrobes are coming out in Jerusalem:

"A glowing orb filmed hovering over the skyline of Jerusalem has left UFO experts dumbfounded.

"The circular object was seen descending slowly over the holy city's iconic Dome of the Rock before flickering and shooting skyward like a rocket. Similar clips have been seen before and debunked as hoaxes. But this latest sighting has proved more difficult to dismiss -- as it was recorded from four different perspectives.

"Some UFO enthusiasts believe the videos -- which have taken the Internet by storm -- are final proof that aliens exist, while others say the unidentified object was the Hebrew god Elohim.

"Adding to the mystery is the fact that flying over the Dome of the Rock landmark -- an ancient Islamic shrine -- is forbidden."

Additional footage can be viewed here.

The Dome of the Rock, built upon the Temple Mound, is one of the holiest sites in Islam and the holiest site in Judaism, where it was the center of national life. It is here that the legendary Temple of Solomon, one of the key symbols in Freemasonry and numerous other esoteric branches, was built.

From an occult view there is much at play here... The protests in the Middle East were triggered by a self immolation in Tunisia on December 17th, the date of the ancient Roman holiday of Saturnalia, which more can be read on here. As an interesting side note, Saturnalia was dedicated to Saturn, the god of time and reaping. The protests went into overdrive around the time the Sementivae festival began, a festival dedicated to sowing and partly patroned by Ceres. A strong synchronistic connection between Ceres/Isis and the events unfolding is the role rising food prices have played in these revolts:

"Political unrest has broken out in Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt and other Arab countries. Social media and governmental policies are getting most of the credit for spurring the turmoil, but there's another factor at play.

"Many of the people protesting are also angry about dramatic price hikes for basic foodstuffs, such as rice, cereals, cooking oil and sugar.

"The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations says its global food price index is at a record high, above even where it stood during the last food crisis three years ago. In early 2008, rising prices caused riots in dozens of countries — several of which are now seeing uprisings once again."
In the time of sowing starvation is beginning to loom for many Third World countries, largely due to the inflationary policies of the First World. Oh, the irony...

Ancient Egypt was considered to be the birth place of the Mystery Schools and the myth of Osiris and Isis was central to these rites. Isis, closely linked to Ceres, is also a goddess of the corn and associated with sowing. The number 17 also hangs over these events like a specter as Osiris was murdered on the 17th day of Athyr. Add in the attempted vandalism on several ancient Egyptian mummies and the UFOs over Jerusalem and you have quite a stew of high weirdness brewing... the fumes alone will probably give you a pretty good buzz.

What does it all mean? As usual, I have no idea, other than change is at hand.

UPDATE 2/05/11:

Loren Coleman has done a fabulous run down of the role Egypt has played in the traditions of the Mysteries, which can be read here -I urge all readers to check it out if you haven't already.

Another macrobe showing seems to have occurred in Egypt. During this news clip, at about the 1:18 mark, there appears to be the ghostly figure of a rider upon a horse.

The footage itself looks legit, but coming from a conventional media source we should be skeptical that its some kind of CGI. Many have already begun to speculate that this greenish rider is the pale horse of the Book of Revelations.

It is worth noting, however, that Osiris was also known as 'the Green Man.'

I am also reminded of Robert Anton Wilson's vision of a green man while  tending his garden:

"The strangest entity I contacted in those twenty-odd months of psychedelic explorations appeared one day after the end of a peyote trip, when I was weeding in the garden and a movement in the adjoining cornfield caught my eye. I looked over that way and saw a man with warty green skin and pointy ears, dancing...

"But that was not to be my last encounter with that particular critter. Five years later, in 1968, the Skeptic read Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan, dealing with traditional Mexican shamanism and its use of the sacred cactus. Castaaneda, an anthropologist, saw the same green man several times, and Don Juan Matus, the shaman, said his name was Mescalito. He was the spirit of the peyote plant...

"A fairly plausible explanation is that Mescalito is an archetype of the collective unconscious, in the Jungian sense. He has been reported by many others besides Castaneda and me, and he always has the same warty skin and is often dancing.

"However, might we dare consider that Mescalito may be just what the shamans (who know him best) always say he is -one of the 'spirits' of the vegetation? To silly an idea for sophisticates like ourselves? Paracelsus, the founder of modern medicine, believed in such spirits and claimed frequent commerce with them. So did the German poet Goethe and the pioneer of organic agriculture, Rudolph Steiner -and the ideas of Goethe and Steiner, once rejected as too mystical, are currently being seriously reconsidered by many ecologists."
(The Cosmic Trigger Volume I, pgs. 24-25)
It is especially interesting that Wilson would first view this Green Man by the corn. If the entity that appeared in Egypt is in fact real (and not staged) it has assumed a nominally Christian form, but seems to hold true to classic daimonic encounters.
